Three St Pius X teams qualified for the State Finals of Basketball which were held in Penrith on the 12 and 13 November.

Both the Year 7/8 Girls and Boys teams were narrowly beaten in the Quarter Finals finishing 8th in the State.

The 9/10 Girls team were successful in winning the Grand Final against Holy Spirit College, Bellambi, after being beaten last year in the Grand Final in extra time. This was a wonderful achievement for the Year 10 Girls in the team because this was the culmination of losing in Semi-Finals in Years 7 and 8 and then being beaten in the Grand Final last year. This team are an amazingly talented group, but more importantly, the sportsmanship that they displayed over the two days and the school spirit was outstanding. This was validated by Holy Spirit's coach who, in his presentation ceremony speech, said not only were our girls the team to beat but that their sportsmanship was a credit to our school.

I would also like to thank Denise Kingham for the last four years, helping coach and doing the bench, as her presence has been invaluable. A big thank you also to Cath Raidaveta who helped with the bench as well. For all our teams involved it was a wonderful three days and every one of you has done our school proud, it was a pleasure to be around every single one of you.
