Sports

St Pius X has a proud history of success in the area of sport. Our Wall of Fame reveals famous sporting ex-students including Graeme Jennings (Soccer), Nick Campbell (Water Polo), Gary Haberl (Table Tennis) and Mark Sargeant (Rugby League). We continue to produce champion teams and athletes at State and National levels.

Students at St Pius X are given every opportunity to participate in representative sports including Athletics, Basketball, Cheerleading, Cricket, Cross Country, Equestrian, Golf, Hockey, Netball, Oztag, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Soccer, Surfing, Swimming; Tennis, Touch Football, Volleyball and Water Polo.

In addition to external competitions, representative teams participate in inter-school competitions between local Diocesan Catholic schools during Friday sport time.

Students not involved in representative sports have the opportunity to select a different sport or recreational activity each term during Friday afternoon sport time. The wide variety of choices available provides students the chance to attend local sporting and recreational venues or receive specialist instruction in different activities in a school setting. The selection of sports is constantly updated to cater for student interests. Our aim is to encourage students to remain active, with the goal of encouraging participation in lifelong physical activity.
